Artistic Adjudicator: Karen Johnson Diamond
KAREN JOHNSON-DIAMOND
Karen is an award-winning actor, working in western Canada for over 30 years. She is also a theatre
director with past credits including “Magic Lies – An Evening with W.O. Mitchell, “ “Footloose,” “A
Christmas Carol” and “Miss Caledonia.” As a professional improviser, Karen co-founded, and is the
former Artistic Producer of Dirty Laundry- The Completely Improvised Comedy Soap Opera (20 seasons)
and Dirty Laundry- The Next Generation (6 seasons). Karen is a champion for emerging talent and serves
as the Administrative Director of ARTSTREK, Theatre Alberta’s summer drama camp for teens. She also
teaches at the post-secondary level at schools such as the University of Calgary, Rosebud School of the
Arts and Red Deer College. Her Film and TV credits include “Joe Picket,” “Heartland,” “Christmas in
Wonderland,” “Fargo” and the multi award-winning web series “Abracadavers.” Along with many
nominations, Karen is the recipient of two Betty Mitchell awards for Outstanding Performance by an
Actor as well as the Duval Lang Award for Excellence in Theatre for Young Audiences. As a writer, Karen
co-created and starred in CBC radio’s “Absolutely Alberta” and co-wrote the Betty Award winning play
“An Eye for an Eye.” Karen is mom to Griffin, wife to Kevin and obsessed with Neil Diamond.

Dave is a Instructor of Design at the University of Lethbridge with over 15 years of experience working in the professional industry.
